Izakaya Night: Japanese Small Plates & Street Bites

October 29, 2026 @ 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm

Experience the delight of making your own izakaya menu. Izakayas are Japanese bars and pubs that specialize in small, yet highly flavorful and delectable foods, perfect for sharing or enjoying solo. Options range from cold and refreshing items to grilled skewers to crispy bite-sized comfort foods and delicacies. In this hands-on class, Chef Hend Yahya will walk you through how to make sunomono, thinly sliced cucumbers in a pickle-like marinade. We will be grilling our kushiyaki vegetable skewers, deep frying tender pieces of chicken and pan searing umami-packed gyoza, where Chef Hend will show you how to achieve the perfect crispy bottoms. And just like in Japan, our food will be enjoyed as it is finished and paired with Japanese beer. Cheers! Or as they say in Japan, “Kanpai!”!

  • Kushiyaki – Small skewers of Grilled Vegetables
  • Karaage – Japanese Fried Chicken
  • Sunomono – Lightly Pickled Cucumber Salad
  • Vegetable Gyoza – Filled with Sweet Potato, Mushrooms, Kale and Ginger
